Couples Counselling

It’s completely normal for relationships to go through difficult times. Life brings pressures — work, family, money, health — and sometimes those pressures quietly build up between two people. When communication starts to break down, it can lead to distance, resentment, or pain that’s hard to name. Left unspoken, these issues can grow — and in some cases, cause real harm.

In couples therapy, I offer a calm and respectful space where you can both speak honestly and begin to reconnect. I work with couples facing all kinds of challenges — emotional and physical distance, infidelity, sexual difficulties, parenting stress, money worries, the effects of past trauma, and more. You don’t have to face these things alone or in silence.

The work we do together focuses on your relationship. I usually see both partners together, although in some situations we might agree that individual sessions are helpful too. After an initial consultation, many couples go on to attend regular, 50-minute long sessions. Some couples find that just one conversation helps them see things more clearly — others choose to continue over a longer period to rebuild trust and connection.

And sometimes, couples come to therapy unsure whether to stay together. In these cases, I can support you in navigating that decision with kindness and care, particularly when children are involved.

Frequently Asked Questions – Couples Counselling

In most cases, yes—we’ll meet as a couple so that both voices are heard equally. That said, some clients benefit from an individual session at the start or during the process, which we can agree together if it feels helpful.

Absolutely. Many couples come to therapy simply to improve communication, reconnect emotionally, or prevent small issues from becoming larger ones. You don’t need to be on the brink of separation to benefit.

That’s very common. Therapy can feel like a big step, especially if one partner is more open to it than the other. We’ll take it slowly and respectfully, allowing space for both of you to express how you’re feeling about the process itself.

Yes. I welcome couples of all backgrounds, sexual orientations, and relationship styles. This is a space of openness and respect.
